FAQ
Questions merchants ask before connecting
Short answers about what Ledgerpost writes to QuickBooks® Online and what it leaves alone. Anything else: support@getledgerpost.com.
Which QuickBooks editions does Ledgerpost work with?
QuickBooks Online companies in the United States whose home currency is USD. QuickBooks Desktop, companies in other countries and multi-currency companies are not supported; the app tells you at connection time.
What does Ledgerpost write to QuickBooks?
Each Shopify order becomes an invoice or a sales receipt by rules you set. Payments, refunds, order edits and cancellations follow the original record. Shopify Payments payouts are recorded as deposits with their fees. Nothing is written until you approve a go-live date.
Will it create duplicates of records already in QuickBooks?
Before every create, Ledgerpost searches QuickBooks for a matching record. A likely match is held in the exception inbox so you can adopt the existing record or create a new one. A record is never posted twice by the app.
What about orders from before I installed the app?
Orders placed before your go-live date are not posted unless you choose a catch-up range when you approve go-live. At launch that range reaches back 60 days. Later payments and refunds on earlier orders post only when the order itself is in QuickBooks.
How is sales tax recorded?
On companies with Automated Sales Tax, each line is sent as taxable or non-taxable together with the tax Shopify charged, so QuickBooks records what the customer paid. On companies without it, you map each Shopify tax rate to a QuickBooks tax code during setup; an order with an unmapped rate is held until you map it.
Why is an order held in the exception inbox?
Each held order shows its cause (a product with no QuickBooks item, a customer that may already exist, a tax rate without a code, a payment gateway without an account) and the action that releases it. Most decisions are made once and apply to later orders.
Can I pause posting or change settings later?
Yes. Pause posting at any time from Home. Changed accounts, rules and mappings apply to future orders only; records already in QuickBooks are never rewritten by a settings change.
What happens when I uninstall?
Posting stops and the QuickBooks connection is revoked. The store's data held by Ledgerpost is erased as described in the privacy policy. Records already written to QuickBooks stay in QuickBooks.
Which plan do I need?
Plans differ by orders posted per month: Standard up to 500, Plus up to 2,000, Pro up to 10,000. Evaluate is free and covers connection, setup and a 30-day dry run without live posting. Paid plans start with a 7-day free trial; development stores run the full plan free.
How do I get help?
From the app: Settings, then Help, sends a request with the diagnostic context attached (your store, company and the last step that worked). Or write to support@getledgerpost.com.
